Financial Accountant (sd/fa)

Based just outside of Cardiff city centre, our client is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its busy finance department. The role is initially a 6 month contract with a high chance of being made into a permanent role.
This role will work with the finance team and other members of the business to support the preparation of financial statements, period end, budgets, forecasts and KPI's.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE POST
Supporting the development and delivery of finance strategies and operations, advising the Finance Manager and Group Financial Controller as required.
Preparing statutory financial statements and group reporting returns for consolidated financial statements.
Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring these are documented and supported for audit.
Delivering support and guidance to the team in relation to finance matters, and act as a key contact for contacts seeking advice in this area.
Supporting the review and improvement of systems, policies, procedures, governance and controls to meet the required standards of efficiency, accuracy, financial control and service levels
Supporting the timely and accurate delivery of period end journals and other financial transactions such as for prepayments, accruals, provisions and payroll.
Supporting the timely and accurate provision of management accounts for the business.
Providing and interpreting financial information to assess the performance of the business against plans and forecasts.
Liaising with payroll and production to ensure all labour allocations are accurate, timely and reconciled.
Managing and controlling intercompany recharges, acting as point of contact with Group and other intercompany trading partners to reconcile and maintain robust financial reporting .
Preparing calculations for other income invoicing. Ensuring the timely and accurate submission of HMRC returns and payments.
Assisting with internal/external audit preparation and queries.
Development, preparation and presentation of KPIs.
Assist with system and process development with the aim of continuous improvement.
Support the Finance Team during high workload and tight deadlines.
Ad hoc reporting and projects as requested by Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
Qualified Accountant, with an accreditation such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar.
Experience of financial reporting, forecasting and analysing data to support and enable decision making by management and to deadlines.
Demonstrable MS excel skills, and the ability to use these to both analyse data and produce analysis/reports targeted at both finance and non-finance professionals.
Ability to work collaboratively to manage competing priorities in a high profile, challenging and fast-moving organisation.
Experience of preparing Extend Trial Balance and statutory reports.
Experience of interactions with HMRC on behalf of a business.
Experience of liaising with internal/external auditors
