Legal Assistant- Collections

Our client is looking for two Legal Assistants to work in the Mortgage Enforcement Team. The team provides volume legal services to the UK's top financial institutions and insurers. Their client base includes leading banks, building societies, insurance companies, self-insured organisations in private and public sectors, insurance brokers and major PLC's.

Key responsibilities::

You will be involved in the handling of borrower calls and negotiating on mortgage arrears, you will be expected to listen, question and challenge information and work with the borrower to agree an affordable and sustainable arrangement.

You will be expected to handle all types of calls professionally and will be responsible for treating borrowers in a fair and empathetic manner taking account of individual circumstances and offering solutions most appropriate to their needs.

You will also be responsible for working to clear guidelines and mandates and will be expected to have high quality standards.

Skills and experience::

You will have already developed sound negotiating skills in a similar collections environment and will be able to demonstrate your ability to negotiate payment arrangements on arrears accounts in a calm and measured fashion and have hit your internal targets on a regular basis.

You should be able to demonstrate effective handling skills and be confident dealing with emotive situations and difficult calls remaining courteous at all times.

Experience of dealing with mortgage arrears would be desirable.

As well as the technical skills, you must be an effective communicator, organised, perceptive, adaptable to change, accurate, able to determine the most appropriate questioning skills for each borrower’s individual circumstances.
